''Hey, you larger than life squeegee users, how much detailing do you do? ''
hey there jerry,
every once in a while i will put my 36 down for a while , just to test and see if i am really still saving time with the long blades. i always go back because i am saving time , a lot of time.
detailing ?? if i have to detail all the time, then why dont i just use a spray bottle and towels? after 20 years, i have learned to do what it takes to get it done in one stroke without needing to detail. so to answer your question....i do NO detailing. i have that part beat. EXCEPT when the window frame seems to be out of plumb, then water may drip down in an abnormal way causing me to detail it.
also, not every window and window frame can be cleaned with a big blade, so dont think we are walking around with these big guys tucked in our pockets or something. for doors i prefer a 14 or 16. on difficult doors i will use an ettore brass 12. i carry several lengths with me . it seems to me..that if you try the long blades and find difficulty with them, dont put them down . hang in there and keep useing them until you have perfected the technique.remember the first time you picked up a blade, it was awkward untill you taught yourself the best quickest way to get the job done. if you find you are spending more time detailing than you feel you have saved , i would suggest that you need to spend more time with the big blade perfecting it. ![]()
