Hey, you larger than life squeegee users, how much detailing do you do? I
have swung those big squeegees, fanned with a 30 inch in a Ledger handle or
a regular handle but always had to spend the time gained detailing the
sides of the glass next to the frames. With a traditional 20 or 18 there is
virtually no detailing and they fit nicely in the bucket on a belt plus
when working inside the shorter squeegees are not obstacles.

Another factor is the wrist, elbow and shoulder strength needed to swing
the big ones. You young bucks can do it now but an old guy like me is
wearing down. When I left the 24" and went back to the 18 or 20, I no
longer experienced wrist and elbow pain. I also think hand speed is a
factor and I know I can push a 20 a lot faster than I can a 30. Add that to
the lack of a need to detail and all things are equal for me and I am
without the physical discomfort.

I have several jobs that have huge windows that the 30 inch really
comes in handy but all the work is done with a pole.

i used to feel the same way jerry. i would try them for a while and go back
to the shorter blades. then i began to notice that i was less tired after a
day of pulling the big boys, less strokes and moment. i started using them
more and more and found myself doing less and less detailing. i find it best
for me to use the big blades for a few weeks and then return to the shorter
blades for a few weeks. this rotation of repetitive motion seems to be easier
on the joints and body. i like to use all the window cleaning tools available
to us. the ledger, backflip, wagtails, bucket- in a bottle,
waterfed-poles/purewater, etc. they are all good products and have a place in
my arsenal of tools. the only tool i have not been able to master is the pro
curve. just could not make it happen like the two guys in the video could. at
age 51 i have topped out on speed. im as fast as im going to get.now the game
is maintaining the speed with the greatest of ease.
