SM does have mixed results. Many people want it cheap. Many are bogus leads. We dispute every lead that doesn't result in a job. We don't get all of them back. We do make money from it, but is definitely a mixed bag - profitable but you do waste time.

Thanks to all that responded. One thing I have learned, is to learn
from others mistakes. Sounds like very few have had any luck with this
company, more headaches than it's worth. Thanks again for the input,
I'm going to pass on this company.

service magic has been very very poor for me. If you want the
irritation at least tell them they will have to waive the $100 sign up
fee like they did for me.

130 leads and 4 jobs?? That's not a good recommendation and about fits
my experience too. Consensus about Service Magic is try them if you
like but be prepared to be frustrated and burned. Personally I
wouldn't ever touch them again - after trying them for two separate
stretches of time

Service Magic is different for everyone. If you have not tried it go
ahead,
but keep track of your leads and how many jobs you get from it.

We tried it for six months. We had a five star rating with them. We got 130 leads and got only 4 jobs. It was not worth the price, but you have
to
keep track. It may work for some, but not for others. One of the
problems,
is that Service Magic keeps calling me to re-sign, and I have refused.
It
is my opinion that if you have an already large customer base, you don't need Service Magic. Your calendar is already filled with your customers
and
some of the Service Magic customers want the service right now.

You have to watch the leads. You may get some bad leads, really outside
your area or false names. If you do, you have to call Service Magic to
get
a credit and that take time.

Jim is right. I have a business partner installling rain flow. He got a
call from Service Magic for gutter cleaning and didnt return it untill
two
hours later. They had already hired. Ended up being an apartment complex
in North Atlanta. Ouch.
I dont think charging $12 for a lead is outreachous at all. Think of all
the traveling and time on the phone we do with people just curious
about our
pricing. With SM these are serious inquirys. I also think of the money
paid
out for contractors who get a cut of the job as a referrel. You dont pay
that to SM.
