There seem to be many local PEO companies.
Do you all recommend a national company, or a local one?
Of the national ones, whom do you recommend?
I've just requested information from Pinnacle HR. Are they good?

John,
I would recommend it for your first employee, as I
use one for my two very part timers.I pay the PEO
127%. The breakdown is probably something like this:
100% = the amount the employee earned
15 % = paying the matching FICA
5% = money to unemployment, workers comp, and
whatever else i'm paying for to be legal.
6-7% = money to the PEO to cover all that they do, no
paperwork or
figuring out how to be legal for me.
So basically for 6-7% of what the employee earns the
PEO takes care of all my worries. And if I didn't
spend it paying the PEO, I would probably spend it on
my accountant, or spend lots of time trying to learn
how to be a human resource dept. Plus, Like Mark
says, I'm probably getting good rates on unemployment
and workers comp being connected to a larger business.
I found my PEO in the yellow pages under Employment
Service- Employee Leasing. There are quite a few
Employment Agencies in the phone book, but only one
company under Employment Service- Employee Leasing.
Hope this helps.

Sounds great.
Would you recommend it for someone who is getting
their first employee this
year? How much do they charge? Is their fee driven by
the employee's pay
rate?
